Cancer Council of SA, one simple goal: Beat Cancer!

Every day, 25 South Australians will be told they have cancer – a disease which will affect one in two people at some point in their lives.

Cancer Council SA, believes they can and will beat cancer and there are things we can all do every day to bring that day closer.

Cancer Council SA funds cancer research through the Beat Cancer Project – a strategic cancer research partnership with SA Health and South Australia’s flagship research facility the South Australian Health and Medical Research Institute (SAHMRI).

They also focus on prevention programs, such as SunSmart and Quitline 13 7848, to help South Australians cut their cancer risk, as well as lobbying government for legislative changes and increased funding for programs such as the National Bowel Cancer Screening Program.

Cancer Council SA provides support services for people affected by cancer, their families and friends through accommodation (for people staying in Adelaide for cancer treatment), Cancer Council 13 11 20, counselling services and support groups.

Cancer Council SA is also well known for its national fundraising events: Daffodil Day; Biggest Morning Tea; Pink Ribbon Day and local events such as Ride for a reason held in conjunction with the Santos Tour Down Under and the Bupa Challenge Tour, or the People’s Choice Credit Union Undies Run for Bowel Cancer.

For our part AscentERP allows Cancer Council to accurately monitor what stock they have available for their fundraising events. Ascent records what stock is returned at the end of each event so that they are able to identify what products to invest in. It also enables Cancer Council to identify which products have the highest sell through so they can maximize their fundraising potential.

Let’s all hope the Cancer Councils good work will spread across the globe!
